Nurturing every child's unique gifts in a Christ-centered environment
At Marc Landon Christian Academy, we believe that every child is fearfully and wonderfully made in God's image. Our special education services are designed to support students with diverse learning needs, ensuring that each child receives the individualized attention and accommodations necessary to thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.
We recognize that children learn in different ways and at different paces. Our dedicated staff works closely with families to create personalized learning plans that honor each student's unique strengths while providing targeted support in areas of challenge. Through faith-based instruction and evidence-based interventions, we help students reach their God-given potential.
MLCA is proud to offer specialized support for students on the autism spectrum. Our approach combines research-based strategies with the love and compassion of Christ, creating a nurturing environment where children with autism can flourish. We understand that autism presents unique challenges and opportunities, and our staff is trained to recognize and celebrate the distinctive gifts that each student brings to our community.
Our First Grade and Lead Spanish Teacher, Marjorie Curry, brings extensive training in working with children with autism. Her specialized expertise allows us to provide individualized instruction that meets the sensory, communication, and social needs of students on the spectrum. Through structured routines, visual supports, and differentiated instruction, we create predictable and supportive learning environments that help students with autism succeed.
Each student with autism receives a customized learning plan developed in partnership with parents and specialists. These plans address academic goals, communication skills, social development, and behavioral support, ensuring comprehensive growth in all areas.
We provide structured opportunities for students to develop social skills through peer interactions, guided play, and explicit instruction in communication and relationship-building. Our small class sizes allow for meaningful connections and personalized support.
Our classrooms are designed with sensory needs in mind, offering quiet spaces, flexible seating options, and sensory tools to help students regulate and focus. We work to minimize overwhelming stimuli while creating engaging learning experiences.
We believe that parents are essential partners in their child's education. Our team maintains open communication with families, providing regular updates, progress reports, and opportunities for collaboration to ensure consistency between home and school.
Biblical Foundation
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." - Psalm 139:13-14
Students with dyslexia, ADHD, processing disorders, and other learning differences receive targeted interventions and accommodations. Our small class sizes and differentiated instruction allow teachers to adapt lessons to meet individual learning styles and needs.
We work with families to coordinate speech and language services, incorporating communication goals into daily classroom activities. Our bilingual Spanish program also provides additional language development opportunities for all students.
Our Christ-centered approach to behavior management focuses on understanding the root causes of challenging behaviors and teaching positive alternatives. We provide consistent routines, clear expectations, and compassionate guidance to help students develop self-regulation skills.
Students with exceptional abilities receive enrichment opportunities that challenge and engage their minds. We believe that giftedness is also a special need requiring differentiated instruction and support to help students reach their full potential.
